Summary: This is a CD layout design that demonstrates my digital design and typography ability. For this project, the goal was to create an album release poster for one of our favorite artist that ties in with the title message. In my process, I met my goal with this solution, by selecting an image of a butterfly emerging from a cocoon, symbolizing rebirth. This leads the viewer’s eye to the message automatically, so that each graphic element belongs and contributes to the aesthetics of the piece. This piece is creative, different, and thought provoking, because of the large image of the butterfly. There is a visual hierarchy established by using the large butterfly as the focal point, while guiding the eye toward the title, this supports my digital design and typography ability. The strength in this piece is the powerful life imagery of a seed bringing life and transitioning into a plant. If, I were to consider improving upon this design, I would probably select a more condensed font for the “available now” phrase and decreasing the album information, slightly. This alone would indicate a high-level of ability in typography, because it would show how well I can tie it into a design.
